BMW CSL Hommage hints at future extreme models

CSL Hommage

   On the show Concorso d'eleganza Villa d'este BMW, which is the official sponsor of the event, presented a sensational concept 3.0 CSL Hommage – a spiritual successor to the iconic 3.0 CSL seventies of the last century. CSL Hommage, where CSL means "coupe sport lightweight" (coupe, sport, lightweight"), uses sophisticated technologies and materials that are used in production models of unit "i". Thought, a concept created on the basis of models M4 and uses inline six-cylinder engine with eBoost. Despite the latest technology, Hommage faithful to the traditions of the original CSL – the interior is designed in minimalist style, to minimize weight, and an aluminum hood, trunk lid and fenders original car is now made of carbon fiber.

   The design of the study, under the strong influence of aerodynamics, keeps from the classic style of the legendary racing driver", which shares the name. On the front panel is dominated by the "kidney" grille, which received a more vertical style of old BMWs and a narrow laser-led headlamps merge with the grille. BMW claims Hommage has the lowest ground clearance of all ever produced cars, and the gap between the vehicle and the road closes carbon fibre splitter to further reduce drag and increase aerodynamic efficiency. Traditional rear-view mirrors were replaced by cameras.  In accordance with the original 3.0 CSL on a C-stand with both parties settled the BMW logo, extended arches set of 21-inch alloy wheels, and led taillights are connected through a huge rear wing.

   The interior is stripped of all pomp and demonstrates the "lightweight" design. And although the cab is original 3.0 CSL was decorated with natural wood, Hommage concept has retained only a decorative strip on instrument panel, the rest of it is made of carbon fiber. Bucket seats with yellow accents and six-point safety belts and a fire extinguisher between the seats hints at racing "pedigree" of the concept. avtoproyzvodytely silent about the technical characteristics, as once again emphasizing research purpose vehicle, expressing the essence of the words: "Our models Hommage not only demonstrate how proud we are of our heritage, but also how important the past is in the future".  The emergence of the concept may indicate the rebirth of CSL in the current BMW range, which in the near future could apply initially to a more focused version of the M4 Coupe, and then to the other models.
