| EOssc2 - car-crab |
As they grow all of the modern city is turning into more lively places in the centre which is quite difficult to find a free place to Park the car, especially if the period coincides with the peak in business activity. But the German engineers from the Center for robotics DFKI, Bremen, invented an elegant and innovative solution - a small electric car that can turn on a dime, started shrinking in size and move sideways like a crab, squeezing in such places, where you will not be able to fit none of the traditional car.
The design of the car EOssc2 formed elements of the body structure of a crab that can put their limbs out to the sides or pick them up closer to your body, significantly reducing footprint. Vehicle suspension EOssc2 also has several degrees of freedom, the car can expand even further when driving on the road and narrow it down before Parking, and an independent rotary drive of each wheel gives the vehicle exceptional maneuverability.

The vehicle EOssc2 has a size of 1.5 to 2.5 meters, the passenger compartment, which has two seats, can lean forward to reduce the overall dimensions of the car before Parking. Car door open, moving up, allowing driver and passenger to easily get and leave the salon. Most of the 750 kg weight of the car falls on its 54 volt lithium polymer battery. The vehicle EOssc2 is four, one for each wheel, a 4-kilowatt electric motors, power enough to disperse the car up to speed at 65 miles per hour.
Currently EOssc2 the car is driven like any other vehicle, but its design already incorporated all the elements, thanks to which he will be able in the future to gain full autonomy and to navigate independently without any human intervention in this process, together with other such cars in the whole train as needed.

And while the automatic abilities of the vehicle only enough to perform the function of automatic Parking, using data collected at a rate of 10 times per second laser scanner LIDAR, cameras and sensors of other types.
Currently has already created several prototype cars EOssc2, and these small cars now being tested on the roads of Bremen in Germany and Dalian, China. Only after extensive testing will become clear the fate of this quite interesting project, the realization of which from scratch took more than three years of work of a group of 10 engineers.
