When in the Internet appeared the first information about the Rover called "Sherpas", many doubted the possibility of practical realization of this project. Enough compact body, sandwiched between four huge wheels with a high cross looks too strange to be true. However, the group of Russian enthusiasts from St. Petersburg have managed to realize this project and the first prototype Rover Sherpa will be demonstrated at the exhibition "Hunting and fishing" which opening will take place in the near future.

The idea of creating a Rover Sherpa which has the highest traffic among other vehicles, was born Alexei Garagashyan in 2012, after which he assembled a group of enthusiastic like-minded people to implement the idea. Some time was spent on design work, and last year a prototype of an SUV, the Sherpa made its first test drive.

The Sherpa is not just a SUV, it is a true all-terrain vehicle, able to go where you are not able to go on foot. The ground clearance of this vehicle is 60 centimeters allows him to overcome obstacles that are insurmountable for all "parquet" and not "parquet" off-road vehicles. Wheels with a diameter of 160 centimeters allow him not to notice pits, ditches and other depressions in the surface, and the pressure regulation system allows the car to adapt to the peculiarities of a particular locality.

The tread pattern on the tyres Rover Sherpa allows the latter to act as propellers to move through the water. And the water that gets inside the body is drained through the system drain valves after the car is selected again on the land.

Despite the massive appearance, the Rover, the Sherpa weighs only 1300 kg, and the engine and five-speed manual gearbox allows it to accelerate to 45 miles per hour on land and up to 6 kilometers per hour on water.

Manoeuvrability and stability against drifts the Rover Sherp gives its transmission, which allows to synchronously block the wheels on one side and to rotate at a speed different from the speed of rotation of the wheels of the other side. The cost of Rover Sherpa as standard with a soft top is about 65 thousand dollars. In the expanded configuration can include an onboard electric generator and additional fuel tanks with a capacity of 50 liters, are installed inside the wheels of the Rover, which is a significant addition to the main 58-litre fuel tank.
